At your complimentary consultation appointment, you will meet with the orthodontist who will perform a clinical evaluation of your teeth and bone structure. The orthodontist may ask for your dental and medical records, as well as all your previous and current health history. After reviewing the alignment of your teeth, if it is determined that you are in need of orthodontic treatment, it will be recommended that you schedule a diagnostic records appointment so we may prepare the appropriate treatment plan. Once the records are ready, the orthodontist will put together the individual treatment plan designed to improve your dental health.
This information, along with your medical and dental history, is used to develop your treatment plan. After the orthodontist has reviewed your records, the treatment coordinator will discuss your treatment plan with you including the approximate length of treatment, cost and any payment plans you may be interested in.
This is your first appointment as an orthodontic patient. At this appointment, the orthodontist will place your appliances (braces, expanders, arch wires, etc.). This appointment usually takes one hour depending on patient cooperation.
Each visit takes typically takes between 15 to 45 minutes. If you see the doctor as scheduled for your adjustments; take good care of your braces; eat the proper foods and maintain good oral hygiene, you should be able to stay on your target treatment schedule.
Your last appointment with braces; The orthodontist will simply "pop" the brackets off your teeth and will clean off any excess glue and polish your teeth and you can be finished in as few as ten minutes. A dental assistant will take impressions of you teeth to have retainers made. Please wear the retainers as instructed to maintain your results.
